Risotto

The Ciao Organics rice product comes from the Pianura Padana, where the Po river leaves the Alps at its back. Specifically it is grown in the “Canale Cavour” or Cavour Channel, one of the areas most adapted to rice cultivation, populated with an abundance of local flora and fauna. It is grown by expert hands born of a long standing family farming tradition.

Risotto is a typically Italian dish, complete, nutritious, and very tasty. It is prepared with simple but flavourful ingredients, among these are: Roma rice, a light vegetable broth, marine salt and a splash of good white or red wine.

Once prepared, it assumes a creamy, velvety consistency, which can be further exalted by adding a little butter and Reggiano parmesan cheese.

CIAO ORGANICS offers its risotto products in practical 8.8 oz. boxes which are easy to prepare, without having to give up the taste of the true homemade risotto. Two risotto products are available, complete with all the necessary ingredients for the their preparation.

Italy is Europe’s leading rice producer, and not by mistake, given the integral part rice plays in the Italian diet. Historically speaking, rice has ancient origins dating back approximately 7000 years, having been brought to Italy from the Asian subcontinent. Some think rice was introduced to Italy by the Venetians, others by the Spaniards during their dominion. We know for certain that its cultivation expanded from the Campania region to Tuscany and the marshy areas of Piemonte, Emilia Romagna and the Veneto. In the Veneto region, the Cistercian and Benedictine orders considered it to have medicinal properties and during the plague it was used to feed entire populations.
